Haiti relief effort
January 21, 2010
by Pastor Jeremiah
As a church, we are heartbroken for the people of Haiti who are living through the tragic aftermath of the catastrophic earthquake that hit on January 12, 2010. As a people, they have inspired us with their great faith and resilience. We continue to pray for Haiti that God would be "an ever-present help in their time of need".
Westside Church is joining with other churches all over the world, to pray and to provide financial support for the disaster relief efforts ongoing in Haiti. You may not feel like your $20, or $50 is much compared to the generous gifts of movie stars and millionaires, but together we can make a significant contribution. And please don't ignore the power of your prayers. Here's a few ways we are recommending for you to give your financial support.
- Give to World Vision - World Vision has been on the ground in Haiti for over 30 years. They are the largest food-providing organization in the country of Haiti and they happen to be headquartered just South of Seattle in Federal Way. World Vision had over 800 staff on site in Haiti before the quake ever hit. They are a quality organization that is well-equipped to handle the challenges of distribution. You can give to World Vision directly by clicking here.
- Give through the church - If you would like to give on Sunday morning, we will be receiving your gifts for Haiti during our regular Sunday morning offering. Please designate your checks to "Haiti relief" and we will make a check out to World Vision in the amount that is received. Let's see what we can contribute together!
