Standing on a hillside, Jesus looked out at what was a hodge podge of commoners and peasants from the defeated nation of Israel and proclaimed to them, “You are the light of the world!” They must’ve thought he was joking. “Who, us, the light of the world?” What about you? As a follower of Jesus Christ in the 21st century the same title applies to you. The question is, do you let your light shine before men?
The Bible says that we are to, “Spur on another on to love and good works.” Here’s your chance to share your story in order to inspire the Westside community to be a light in Seattle. Describe how you took Jesus words to heart and let your light shine before men. What did you do? What was the response? Fill out the forms below and join the conversation.

On Sunday I mentioned a conversation I had with my son Josiah in the car on our way to school. I told him that he was a light and had an opportunity to shine for Jesus at North Beach elementary. I asked him how he thought he could shine that day. Today, he brought back something the teacher hands out to the student who pays attention and listens all day long. He said, “dad, I was a light wasn’t I?” We celebrated with a high five and some McDonalds on the way home!
This (being lights in a dark world) is a great topic! Very inspiring–as was the sermon! (Can we have another week on this subject, please?!!)
I am a notary through my job. I have offered notary services from time to time to others on our floor. Recently a group of doctors were renewing and updating their lease to include a therapist from another office. They asked if I would notarize their signatures on the lease. I agreed and it turned out they really needed much more than just a notary. I happened to have the resources to provide the other items they needed and did so happily. They were very surprised and seemed somewhat humbled at my willingness to offer my expertise and time freely. They said many times, how thankful they were and surprised that it was at no cost to them. I told them just to pass it on! I believe they had every intention to do just that!
