Calling all volunteers. We need to get our grounds ready for our special Easter festivities (March 23rd this year!). We have a few projects that we’d like to tackle, in particular the playground area and the some organization downstairs. It should not take any more than a few hours. Please help if you can.

Tacky Sweater Christmas Bowl

Christmas Bowl

See More Pictures

Did someone say Tacky Christmas Sweater Bowl? In case you’ve got no idea what that means the pictures are worth more than any words I could write describing the event. Yes, we did it. We dug through our Grandma’s closets, searched the bottoms of the thrift store piles all for that elusive prize, a sweater, that would make your great aunt Ruth think that she was back “en vogue”. We braved the laughter, the deer in the headlights stares, and crooked looks from the fellow bowlers at the sunset lanes to spread some holiday cheer and just point and laugh at one another (it’s good medicine).Congratulations to John and Amy, they were crowned the king and queen of tacky, at least for this year. The bowling wasn’t bad either. There’s something about bowling that just brings out the party animal in people, but what happens at sunset lanes, stays at sunset lanes, so next year, you’ll just have to come and see for yourself what all the fun is about!

Light Of The World Discussion

November 17, 2007 | 3 Comments

Standing on a hillside, Jesus looked out at what was a hodge podge of commoners and peasants from the defeated nation of Israel and proclaimed to them, “You are the light of the world!” They must’ve thought he was joking. “Who, us, the light of the world?” What about you? As a follower of Jesus Christ in the 21st century the same title applies to you. The question is, do you let your light shine before men?

The Bible says that we are to, “Spur on another on to love and good works.” Here’s your chance to share your story in order to inspire the Westside community to be a light in Seattle. Describe how you took Jesus words to heart and let your light shine before men. What did you do? What was the response? Fill out the forms below and join the conversation.

Why We Sing

October 26, 2007 | Leave a Comment

church-singing.jpg
As a worship pastor, I’m often asked the question, “Why does the church gather everybody together to sing? Where did that idea come from?” It’s a fair question, especially around Seattle where most people are un-churched and completely unfamiliar with what happens within the four walls of a church. To be honest it is a little strange, besides concerts and birthday parties, it’s not all that often that you see big groups of people singing together, especially when it involves people who don’t sing all that well (no offense).
